Summer arrived in Spetses and our projects, along with are news, are grand! Following are our completed projects for May & June, which you can read about in full detail on our updated website: https://www.spetses.org/



6-7th May: ARTIST WORKSHOP BY OLGA ANTONEA: CREATING WITH LEATHER


The artist and graphic designer Olga Antonea, along with CTS volunteer, taught Middle School students how to work with leather and they made their own purses.

SPETSES CULTURAL ASSOCIATION

Upgrade of their sound system equipment with the purchase of a tour system, a tour system receiver, a wireless condenser microphone set, as well as a sound console.















 

May 9-19th: ARGORICORAMA 2023


Spetses Fishers refrained from fishing and used their boats to collect waste from the island's hard-to-reach shores.


This year they collected a total of 90 large garbage bags, tanks, boat covers, large buoys, plastics, pipes and fishing nets that will be recycled.

SUPPORT OF TWO EDUCATIONAL TRIPS FOR SPETSES MIDDLE SCHOOL AND SPETSES HIGH SCHOOL


The Spetses Middle School attended a Symposium in Piraeus to presented the traditional Spetses costume. The High School Radio Team participated in the Student Competition European School Radio and travelled to Zakynthos for the final phase of the competition and

came in 4th!



 

CLASSIC SPETSES YACHT REGATTA 2023

Community Trust Spetses was a proud sponsor of SCYR 2023. We wish to express our

gratitude to the Yacht Club of Greece, to the organising committee and to all those

who donated in support of the newly founded Children's Clinic.



The 4th System of the Sea Scouts of Thessaloniki making a generous donation of a SEIKO watch in support of the Spetses Children's Clinic.

JULY & AUGUST EVENTS


METAMYTH: Therapy Through the Arts in Museums


In August, Mrs Thalia Valeta- Panayiotopoulou will conduct a series of experiential tours at the Spetses Museum and the Lighthouse Area.

BALTIZA WORK IN PROGRESS: 29th July - 16th September


The exihibition in the Old Harbour, amongst the traditional boatyards, aims to highlight the tradional boat-making craft as a part of Spetses' cultural heritage. Four Greek artists will create new pieces especially for this project.


In September, an educational program will follow for students of the Spetses Primary School, in cooperation with the Bouboulina Museum and with the support of Community Trust Spetses.




 

Finally, we are delighted to announce that the Spetses Children Clinic will begin operating during the summer!


For the financial support of the Clinic, CTS is organising a concert on July 26th at

the Bouboulina Museum. The acclaimed musicians, Socrates Sinopoulos, Katerna Papadopoulou and Vassilis Kostas will perform together for the first time to present a magical evening inspired from Greek traditional music "Of Land & Sea".


All proceeds will go to the newly founded Children's Clinic and the support of the

Spetsopoulia Asssociation for Family and Friends of People on the Autistic Spectrum.
